What is Net Neutrality? "It guarantees a level playing field in which Internet users do not have to pay Internet service providers more for better access to online content, and content generators do not have to pay additional fees to ensure users can access their websites or apps." - The Nation
Why is it Under Threat? "The Federal Communications Commission released a plan on Tuesday to dismantle landmark regulations that ensure equal access to the internet, clearing the way for internet service companies to charge users more to see certain content and to curb access to some websites." - New York Times
Under Tom Wheeler's governance, the FCC enforced present net-neutrality rules by reclassifying broadband internet providers as common carriers, thus recognizing Internet service as a public utility. (source: Wired) This classification protects the idea that data should travel through the internet freely, no matter the source or destination. Under the present leadership of Ajit Pai, this classification will be rolled back, ending protections ensuring the Internet remains a space for the free exchange of ideas and information.
We believe that a free and open Internet, means one that is free from tiered payment, free from structural bias in favor of money, free for us to choose what we access and publish, free and available for all.

Then if you have the time, please share as widely as possible.
Finally, if you have a few spare moments, call your elected representatives in Congress (House and Senate) and leave a brief statement urging them to protect the Internet as a public utility and uphold the present Net Neutrality rules.
